KA‘U NUI

The love is for the beloved sands of my birth

And grand Ka'u appears elegant in the wind

It's the home where the woman still resides

The notorious (mysterious) beauty of Kilauea (Pele)

Cherished are the waters of Palahemo

Where freshwater and seawater mix

With the famous Ha‘ao rain

Soaking the skin of the newcomers

Ever glorious is Punalu‘u

Where the  Puhau waters are cool

With the birth pebbles of  Koloa

And with the rippling waves at Kawa

The tale is shared

For great Ka'u, superbly distinguished in the wind

It's a land loved by the residents

And with the beauties of Kilauea
